Sun, Dec. 16th, 2007, 11:10 pm iPod
I think my dad is the funkiest dad. He got an iPod before any of his kids did ... and he decided to keep it in a baby sock. And now that I got my sisters one each, I'm the only one left without one (apart from my mum who would never own one). But that doesn't stop them from bringing me their iPod problems.

Recently I've been listening to Maksim a lot. I first heard his music on the radio, and I was so enthralled I had to get the album. He is a classically-trained Croatian pianist who blends pop (and I think electronica) elements into his musical interpretations. All well and good until yesterday The Flight of the Bumble Bee somehow got jammed on repeat in the player. I didn't notice immediately because I was working on other stuff, but it was subconsciously annoying the hell out of me. Like having a mosquito buzzing in your ear. Pity, it used to be my favorite track but I don't think I can listen to it for a while. Tue, Sep. 20th, 2005, 08:16 pm dinner tonight
Everyone seems to be blogging cartoons these days ... ... I also can ... Looks like Lassie but he's actually Garfield Sat, Sep. 17th, 2005, 10:39 am legacy phones
When we first built the house almost ten years ago, my dad decided to 'invest' in this newfangled digital phone system. It allows us to page calls to specific handsets, make announcements (imagine 7 phones around the house blaring, "come down for dinner", it's awful) and probably has a ton of other damn cool functions we don't know how to use. Personally I didn't see the point, but I can't criticise since I've bought my fair share of useless gadgets. It's like girls and handbags, you know. The most hilarious thing is that this system actually makes life harder. When a call comes in, we used to put the phone on hold and yell for the person. Now, we need to place the handset on the table, go to the stairway (for better acoustics), establish the presence and location of the recipient, and then finally go back to the phone to transfer the call to the appropriate line. The other annoying thing is that ever since cordless phones have come into fashion, I have been unable to get one because standard phones do not plug into our digital network. Boo. But today, after heckling my dad for the umpteenth time, he pointed out that my room actually has two lines: the digital voice line and an extension of the stand-alone fax line. So I can actually just get a cordless phone and plug it into the latter. Super cool! I'm going shopping after lunch.
Thu, Sep. 15th, 2005, 11:40 pm cleaning house
As the suy's rays penetrated the room, I shook the last vestiges of sleep from my eyes and finally poked my head out the bedroom door. My sister was at the computer. Why was she not asleep? It was only 10am! But I did not have time to ponder this startling fact as I was unceremoniously introduced to my parents' new pet, Kirby, and made to carry him up to the attic. Kirby is our new vacuum cleaner. My dad is very proud of the fact that this lightweight monstrosity is made from the same material as airplanes. But as I lugged it back and forth to suck dust mites out of the sofa bed, I pondered the stark reality that what is light for an aircraft may not be light for a hand-held vacuum cleaner. So today I spent the whole day cleaning out the house, mainly my own room. We took the unfixed furniture out so that I could wax and buff the floor. Whoever heard of waxing and buffing a paquet floor?! More importantly, I realised how much junk I have from all my unfinished hobbies. It's pretty sad when I list them all out ... snorkel and flippers, juggling balls and clubs, diablo, squash racquets, snowboarding stuff, table tennis bat ... and I finally threw out the electric guitar and with it, all my dreams of becoming a big, bad rock star. Mon, Sep. 12th, 2005, 12:26 am Linking Policy
In the light of the recent furor at Tomorrow.sg, I thought I would outline my linking policy. Don't link to me.
If you have my other blog, you can link to that but don't put my name to it.
Even though I write with the assumption that I have a hundred faceless enemies trawling the net for dirt on me, I don't have to make it any easier for them to find me. Sun, Sep. 11th, 2005, 12:12 pm oil
If you, as I, have been bitching about the price of gas lately, then here is some food for thought. I can't believe a full tank of gas costs $100 now! But nonetheless, we are obviously somehow insulated from the ridiculous oil shock hitting America. When your lawn is withered and yellow, sometimes it's comforting to glance at the barren landscape on the other side of the fence.
